Well. Where to begin with this one. Melbourne-based Robbie visited a number of other food van manufacturers in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane before settling on Van Demons to take on his mammoth truck and trailer project.
Robbie recently left Brisbane with Australia’s biggest and most impressive food truck. And he left behind a bunch of lifelong friends that are all the better for having had the opportunity to get to know him after days, weeks and months of him “overseeing” the production of his project. (Truth be known he preferred to hang with us than head home to Melbourne to sit around during lockdown!)
Robbie’s Roadside Diner was a huge effort from the multi-talented Van Demons team. This is by far the most complex food truck we have built to date! With a 9.2m truck body built onto an Iveco Euro Cargo cab chassis, its commercial kitchen features a 4.5m long custom built rangehood, aircon and an enormously huge array of top quality kitchen equipment and internal features.
It has a built in cold room and dry storage room, even a separate toilet! Plus a split level interior with steps down to the hydraulically operated front service counter which pushes out and retracts again at the press of a button.
Externally there is a built in retractable awning, speakers and swing out service windows with TVs for menu display, LED colour changing lights underneath the truck and an awesome illuminated rooftop sign that raises and lowers, again with the press of a button.
We also built Robbie a 5.8m long cold room to tow behind his truck which features a refrigerated room on one end and a freezer room on the other. And we manufactured a separate trailer on which to tow his support vehicle. What an operation! Can’t wait to see Robbie’s Roadside Diner hit the road.
If you like this diner truck and trailer combo, we built a truck for KFC Australia with a similar hydraulic shopfront system, check it out here.
